Title
De Vlaamsche nationalist: orgaan van de Vlaamsch-Nationale Volkspartij van het arrondissement Mechelen
Description
*De Vlaamsche nationalist* was the organ of the Vlaamsch Nationale Volkspartij (VNVP) in the district of Mechelen. The VNVP party stood for strong nationalism, but opposed extreme forms of nationalism. The party also supported a Catholic society. The editor-in-chief of *De Vlaamsche nationalist* was Renaat Diels. The paper had an average circulation of 4,000 copies, most of which were distributed for free as propaganda. In 1933, the VNVP merged into the Vlaamsch Nationaal Verbond (VNV). This party was also a nationalist party, but much more extreme and fascist than the original VNVP. In its last year of publication, *De Vlaamsche nationalist* became entirely the mouthpiece of the Mechelen division of the VNV.
