: Volksmacht (vanaf 1966)
Description
*De volksmacht* was founded in 1944 as the post-war successor to the provincial weekly of the same name. This new version was distributed in regional editions all over Flanders as the official membership publication of the Christian Trade Union, the ACW. Although originally intended for trade union members and those affiliated with the Christian mutuality, *De volksmacht* sought to reach all Christian workers in order to, in its own words, "penetrate into every Flemish Catholic family". As a result, the paper became a collage of opinionated reports with a Christian democratic slant. The paper also sometimes published general news items. When the paper was renamed *ACW visie* in 1992, the regional editions had reached a total circulation of 1.2 million copies all together.
