Newspaper
Title
Vlaanderen: halfmaandelijksch blad tot bevordering van de nationaal-Vlaamsche gedachte
Description
*Vlaanderen* was a newspaper that championed nationalism and the Dutch language. The newspaper was headed by Josué de Decker. He was a Flemish activist and chairman of the Vlaamsch Comité. This committee supported activists committed to the Dutch language and they also pursued the Greater Netherlands idea. In doing so, they worked for a unitary and Dutch-speaking state. *Vlaanderen* stimulated anti-Belgian sentiment and called for Flemish activism in Belgium. The newspaper was published from The Hague, but was distributed in Belgium until postal delivery of this newspaper was banned in Belgium and the newspaper had to change its name.
