Description
*Het huisgezin* was the illustrated Dutch-language edition of the newspaper *La Patriote*, later called *La Libre Belgique*. The main purpose of the newspaper was to give families useful information enlivened with beautiful illustrations. It contained articles for the whole family, including recipes for homemakers weekly stories for children and daily news with amusing anecdotes. As an example, the paper once published an article about the largest potato in the world. The tone of *Het huisgezin* was predominantly Catholic.
